A Letter to Their Father
In the spirit of Father’s Day & because of the letter to My Father I wanted to take time to tell my husband all the things that our children are too little to vocalize themselves.
Dearest Sean,
What a truly tremendous father you are to these boys. It has been a joy watching you grow into this role. Some days are harder than others especially when you are raising some headstrong boys. But without fail you are determined and strong.
With a world full of dead beat dads you are a shining star. It doesn’t take much for some people to commend a father, just staying or providing has been the standard for dad’s for entirely too long. You raised the bar.
Your ultimate love for God points our boys to the author and creator of the Universe. The way you pray over our meals, pray over their lives and point them back to Christ will be the foundation for which they grow.
Then, the way you love me. The way you model how to care for and treat me as your wife is pointing them into a direction of respectfulness and kindness toward girls and women. You have taught me humility and what it means to lose gracefully and those are skills they will need to succeed in their own lives and potential marriages.
As you know life was not and has not always been easy for me as I know it has not always been easy for you. However, every day by my side you make life enjoyable. You spur me on to do great things and that’s how I knew you’d be a great father too.
You are steadfast and consistent. You are unwavering in your ways (we could also call that stubbornness). I am thankful for the way you coparent with me & the way these boys will never doubt the love of their father both Heavenly & earthly.
Thank you for breaking the mold.
Love, their mom
