Good Friday
Have you ever had a bad day? Like this is a really bad Tuesday!
No, just me?
Well, some days just seem to have a lot more frustration, more anger, more anxiety, more discipline, more gratitude-searching, and more caffeine.
Other days are filled with more intention, more service, more acts of kindness, more sharing, more caring, and still more caffeine (because, duh).
But the difficult days are not for nothing. If you allow it to push you to grow outside of your comfort zone and become better even if just by a fractional amount then that bad day can be well worth it in the long run. Our kids are better for them when we use them to teach and correct.
Nearly 2000 years ago, on a Friday, the day became like night when the Savior of the World fell to death on the cross. It was day when it seemed all Hope had been lost. But even that day of sorrow, agony and grief was used for a righteous purpose. The proof a plan had not failed but was in fact being fulfilled. His death was for the saving of many.
And on Sunday, we celebrate the fulfillment of that promise when Jesus defeated death and through which, gave each of us access to Eternity. Praise the Lord. Wow!
Easter is my favorite holiday, but this year it’ll look different for everyone. If you don’t get to celebrate with your family or friends this year, it won’t take away from what Christ did for you on the Cross. The egg hunts and gatherings won’t look the same but that doesn’t mean those things cannot occur at all. An egg hunt or big family brunch is not exclusive to Easter. Celebrate that regardless of your job status, health status, or shelter-in-place status that Jesus chose YOU to die for.
Celebrate Easter for Him. FaceTime your family, put on the ham and remember that without Him and His great love for you none of the things that we miss and desire would even matter.
